cross steering tube which from your reports you have never previously tried with two front shock absorbeds on.

We should very much like you to find out whether it is the friction in the cross steering tube or alteration to the shock damper loading which is making the steering so good.

We should like you to continue testing all round with various shock absorber poundages until you have established what you consider to be the best compromise.

We should like to know how you have obtained your increased poundage on the steering. one of our difficulties has been that we find the efficiency of the worm and nut increases in the central position and that if we put up the friction in the cross steering tube to 6 lbs. in the central position it rises to 9 or 10 lbs. on the lock so spoiling the self centering without overcoming joggles. Perhaps you have a better steering on your car.

ROAD SPRINGS.

On production we are proposing to mill grooves and drill holes in the top 4 leaves of the road springs. only When you have time we should like you to dismantle your springs and plug up the lubricating provision in the bottom leaves of your springs. We think that if the bottom leaves are wrapt in thin felt or soaked in oil that the overflow in the top leaves will keep them lubricated but it is possible that you may run into ex squeaks. This test is of minor importance and should only be carried out if you have nothing else to do.
