contd :- -2- These linings as far as I remember gave excellent results except that we found that they had worn rather excessively at the end of the 10,000 miles. The makers now contend they have increased the life of the lining 50% and as this material is very good for prevention of squeaking, we think it is well worth trying. When you have fitted this lining we want you to run the car with 45° cams and the new servo lining we sent out to you. We anticipate that with the lubricated servo you will then find you have not quite sufficient total braking. Do not judge on the first run with the new brake linings because this type of material does not assume its proper working face until it has been in use a little while. If your total braking is insufficient, will you please fit the small lever G.76811 on the servo side of the foot pedal countershaft, length 1.375". This will increase you direct braking and will increase your servo efficiency slightly. If you still consider your front braking is too great you could fit two levers which we shall send out to reduce the front braking. STEERING. We are most interested in your report on the steering. We cannot believe that altering the front shock absorber loads, as you have done, could improve your steering in the manner you state. We rather feel that it must be the friction in the contd .. | ||
