20HP CHASSIS. 59.S.6.
DYNAMO NUMBER 208.

As pointed out by EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}'s Dept, in EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/CEPI/H18224, it is obvious that the actual cause of the Dynamo failing is arcing at the positive brush. I cannot, however, see any signs of the brush itself having definitely stuck in its guide, although one would be inclined to think that this would be the start of the trouble. In the absence of signs of actual brush sticking the only other explanation is that the positive brush gradually burnt away on its trailing edge, with the result that arcing was set up, which caused the failure in question.

The only account that I could earmark for this would be a Works Policy account, as there is no indication that the part was fitted up wrong originally.

I am sending the dynamo to EFC, and would like him to make any criticisms or suggestions and then return the dynamo to me.

Will EFC. kindly send a boy to this office for the dynamo in question. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer}
