Specification for an armoured car, detailing standard alternatives and special non-standard parts called for by the War Office.

SPECIFICATION FOR ARMOURED CAR.

The following special features where alternatives are allowed for on the standard chassis and new designs where new parts are called for by the War Office, are required in fitting up the armoured cars -

(a) Standard alternatives decided on.

1. Steering column in "D" position.
2. Side Levers. Set in. Short type.
3. Petrol Tank. 18 gallon.
4. 16/52 bevels in rear axle of straight Reinecker type.

(b) Special parts not standard, called for by the War Office.

1. Rear Axle. This to be built up with the stronger type tube G.5072/3 with brackets, bolts and fittings to suit.
2. Standard Radiator, as arranged for "N" series.
3. Dashboard, as arranged for "N" series, with special drilling.
4. Bonnet and fittings not required.
5. Auxiliary tank for oil and petrol fitted on the dash, to have gravity feed and 3 way cock, so that main tank can be cut out if punctured by a bullet.
6. Springs. Front, to carry 1350 lbs. each. Rear, to carry 4000 lbs. each.
7. Special hand starting magneto, to be used in conjunction with special engine magneto of Watford aero engine type, having central high tension connection to couple up to hand magneto.
8. Michelin disc wheels with R.R.type hubs for same to suit 895 x 135 tyres, including nuts, bolts, and necessary tools for changing wheels. The Michelin disc wheels to be drilled for 3 security bolts, extra to the usual bolt valve.
9. Two spare wheels to be allowed for per chassis.
10. Tyres. 6 outer covers and 6 inner tubes to be provided for each car. These to be Palmer cords 895 x 135 nominal, actually 146 m.m. diameter.
