To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X3806 c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LG30.1.29. 'SS{S. Smith}' AND 20 HP. CARS. X5770 X7770 If it is the intention to announce Central Oiling on the 20 HP. at the same time as the 'SS{S. Smith}', we should expect both types of chassis to be delivered to coachbuilders at the same time. In the case of the 'SS{S. Smith}'. As we are going to use a subframe, the time taken at the coachbuilders should be greatly reduced. The 20 HP., not having a subframe, will take longer before the car can be delivered to customers. We do not know whether a programme exists but we think it would be useful if a chart was made out shewing exactly the progress of the chassis up to the time of its delivery to customers. We believe it is going to be extraordinarily difficult to arrive at the right date for announcing central lubrication, so that both models can be introduced simultaneously.
