DY{F R Danby}/GS c. ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} c. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} X1184 BY.4/G.6.10.36. BENTLEY CHASSIS - RE: LUBRICATION. ------------------------------ The Experimental Department and Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} are in agreement that we should immediately instruct the improved scheme of lubrication which has been produced to LeC.3324. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} remarks that this has been used during the last three years on several experimental engines with complete success. It should be noted that as the rear main bearing cap is interchangeable with the front and central bearing caps, the Works must be warned that there is a difference in the lubrication scheme, and it is important that the correct bearing cap for the rear main bearing is therefore used. It has also been agreed that we should use HR.56 shims for both the big ends and the journals if and when the tests are completed. Would you kindly let the Order Office have new drawings for the shims for the main bearings, so that they can get enquiries moving. The new parts are not to be used, however, until tests have been completed and standardisation sheets issued. By BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
