Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} DY.{F R Danby} Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} -------------------------------- (1) ROAD TRANSPORT WORK. The question of whether we should keep all our lorries or not was raised. The lorries were originally bought when the cost of transport by rail was excessively high, and in addition it was very difficult to get rail wagons to bring the goods to Derby. Since that period the cost of rail transport has decreased considerably and the Railway Co. are asking us to give them all the transport work we can. At present we have eight lorries, made up as follows - One Halley. One Straker Squire. One Guy. Two Fords. One T.R. One Leyland. One Alldays. It was agreed that five lorries, namely, Halley, Straker Squire, one Ford, Guy, and the T.R. should be sold as soon as possible, and their drivers discharged, and that the Leyland 5 ton, the Alldays 5 ton, and the new Ford Van should be kept temporarily, as it was pointed out that it was still necessary to keep lorries for delivery of goods from Wolverhampton and Birmingham areas. | ||
