WORKS COMMITTEE MEETING 10TH JANUARY 1921. Present - BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Copies to - H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} CJ. Hr. BJ. Hallam - Head Repairs} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} Hr. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} ------------------------------------------------------ (1) RE DUNLOP WIRE WHEELS WITH GOODYEAR RIMS FOR STRAIGHT SIDED TYRES FOR AMERICA. It was agreed that the following cable be sent to Springfield:- " Re twentyfour sets wheels delivered with Goodyear removable flange rims. Have discovered that flange retaining detachable flange is cracked at base on large proportion of rims. Consider these American made rims unsafe and must not be used. Suggest you fit standard Dunlop wheel until we obtain improved rims of similar design to Goodyear made in England by Dunlop." It was also agreed that the Dunlop Co. should be informed that we cannot accept any more of the wheels fitted with the Goodyear made rims. The Dunlop Company are producing a similar type of rim of improved design to overcome this very trouble which has now developed, by producing a radius of .100" at the defective place which in a Goodyear made rim is a sharp corner. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} is instructing EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} that he must not send away any more of the above Goodyear made rims but supply chassis with standard wheels until the new Dunlop wheel is available, which should be in the near future as promised by Dunlop. | ||
