As regards the vibration rig, there was considerable delay in getting this going, and up to the time the Multiple Storage Co. suggested that the vibration test was not necessary there have been other batteries of greater interest to us at the moment which had to take precedence on this test.

We now also rather agree as a result of our experience with the vibration test, that this is not so necessary, because it has shown that on batteries which we have tested upon it, violent mechanical vibration is not half so detrimental as we had expected, at any rate in the case of comparatively new batteries, the elements and capacity of a well made battery do not suffer appreciably from this treatment.

The last letter received from the Multiple Storage Company was dated October 24th. Perhaps you will now explain the position to them. Would they, for instance, like to have the battery returned?

We could not possibly decide on the suitability of this battery for the R.R. Car, as the arrangement of the battery is unsuitable for running on a car. All we can do is to give the results of bench tests, and this we have done so far as we have gone. If they care to suggest any other simple bench tests on this battery, e.g. battery standing uncharged, we should be pleased to carry these out.

Apparently the battery, if returned, should be returned to you.

Yours faithfully,
