To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to CJ. c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} ORIGINAL Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}4/LG29.1.23. BIJUR STARTER DRIVE. X3587 We are sending to you one of the cork clutch discs from the first Bijur Starter drive which we fitted. You will remember that we carried out 8,000 starts with this drive and when examined it was found in excellent condition. Since it has been put back on the car, we have had trouble with the clutch slipping. We find that when it was erected the thread and nut were oiled. We can only account for the present failure by the fact that some of the oil must have got on to the clutch face. We are carrying out tests to prove whether a slight amount of oil will have this effect. It shows however that we have not much in hand. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
