R's remarks are as follows:

"Of Schemes 1. 2. 3. and 4. I should prefer No.3. scheme unless we definitely prefer our Silver Ghost practice (Sch.4.) which was the case at one time".

"Mr. Bailey's suggestion (Sch.5.) is good but somehow I don't like it".

"Is there any need for the offset. I doubt it. Would you like to incline the whole pushrod the amount of the offset? If this is not possible could we incline the lower part". This refers to SCH. No.6.

"Personally I would rather alter so as to submerge in oil if we must alter at all, but I fear this is a big alteration. It might pay us to leave SS.{S. Smith} as it is and make the L.H. SS.{S. Smith} oil submerged. Sch. No.7.
