To: Rev. NOTES ON THE PRESENT POSITION OF THE PRODUCTION OF THE Q.F. 2-POUNDER MK.{R. E. B. Meade-King} 14. GUN. The parts comprising the gun are divided into the following categories :- 1. Barrels. 2. General Machined Parts. 3. K.{Mr Kilner} parts. 4. Bought Parts. 5. Mountings. 1. BARRELS. The first 2 barrels at the R.O.F. Nottingham, will be finished by Monday. The next forgings from the English Steel Corporation are due on August 12th. and delivery of the whole 60 will be completed by the end of the month. About three weeks later, deliveries of these barrels will commence and will be carried out at the rate of four per week. This is subject to their receiving confirmation that they may proceed, from the D.O.F. Mr. Healing states that they will be able to continue the production of barrels at the rate of four per week indefinitely, and this will therefore cover a portion of the 500 sets. As regards our own production, it appears that the machines will not be received from America before the end of December. Production should therefore start about the end of January, 1941 and should build up to the maximum of 40 per week by the end of March. - Continued - | ||
