On May the 7th.inst. the car ran 420 miles. On the 8th. 240 miles, on the 9th. 256 miles and today the 10th. 353 miles - making a total to date of 3351 miles.

I have been able to get the battery recharged during the night, but the loss of time through the battery has caused us to fall off in mileage, but have done as much as possible under the circumstances.

I have wired today for driving shaft for dynamo, as this was taken back with S-Goshawk-ll to Derby. On the 8th. we greased and oiled up chassis all round - steering ball joints adjusted, also shock absorbers, fan belt adjusted and engine side strips fixed up, as the bolt heads pull through the aluminium.

Yesterday the top half of wind screen (glass) collapsed through road vibration. At the time we were running about 50 M.P.H. and screen slightly opened, but no personal damage done.

The last few days the weather has been very hot and the water temperature has constantly been about 95°C and occasionally we have made it boil, of course, this is with the radiator cover off and fan working O.K. Whilst on the roads we had a valve (No.9) stick open, this was eased off again and since have had no further trouble.
