R.R. 493A (20H) (D.A. 652 20-8-24) J.H.D. -2- EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. Expl. No. REF:Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LG20.10.24. 3. Low pressure tyres and wheels. A set of low pressure tyres and wheels are being sent to France so that at the first opportunity these can be fitted to the car and tested at high speeds. We have no information as regards the behaviour of low pressure tyres fitted to any fast cars. The cross steering levers have been modified to provide the necessary clearance. 4. Servo gear. The servo gear is provided with stiffer shafts. The ratio of the spur reduction is 2 to 1, instead of 4 to 1. The worm wheels are modified to suit. We have tried this combination now on three cars and find that it is consistently the quietest. 5. Pivot bushes. The steering pivot pin bushes are Kelmet metal - housed in steel. 6. Rear shock absorbers. Hartford shock absorbers are fitted of the Duplex type. These are recommended by the makers to remain consistent for a longer period. 7. Gudgeon pins. The gudgeon pins fitted to the engine are to LeC.1758 Sch.2. This is an improvement over the present design. The following is a list of electrical items fitted to 98-NK car :p contd :- | ||
