10,000 MILES TEST IN FRANCE.
98-NK CAR.

This car is being prepared to send to France to run a 10,000 miles test on front springs. It has already completed 20,000 miles running in France and 2,000 or 3,000 miles running in England.

The following new parts are fitted to this car :-

1. Firths road springs (front) thin leaf 12½% stiffer than standard.

A pair of Woodheads springs of similar poundage will be carried as spares so that if the bumping tests shew the Firths springs not to be up to the standard of Woodheads, they can be changed.

2. Radiator with 23¾" matrix.

It was decided that a 23¾" matrix was the largest radiator it was practicable to fit to a 40/50 HP. chassis. This gives us practically a square radiator so that the fan can be efficiently used.

We also have prepared for this car a radiator with a 22¾" matrix. This size of radiator could be fitted to the present standard cars without any alteration, by carrying the matrix 1" lower.

Two spare sides for the bonnet are being carried fitted with louvres.
