Dear Mr. Grylls, I tried yesterday to catch you on the telephone but unfortunately could not do so and was very sorry to hear this afternoon that you are away ill. I sincerely hope you will have a speedy recovery. I particularly wanted to have a word with you about the "50" marking for gear box oil which I understand you raised on the telephone, when I was away from the Office on Friday last, as I think this issue raises one or two complications which probably you had not anticipated and for the reasons which I have endeavoured to explain in my official letter to you, I honestly think it will be preferable to drop the viscosity numerical rating for this purpose. I should be very interested to have your views on the points which I raise in my official letter on this point, and at the same time would like to thank you very much indeed for incorporating the odds and bits on the lines of our discussion in Derby recently in future reprints I hope to be in Derby during the latter part of this month, in all probability about the 25th - 26th and would like to drop in and see you, though probably by that time you will have finalised all matters pertaining to recommendations of oil. In any case, I will be interested to have your personal views, as well as official views on the subject of gear box oils. Wishing you a speedy recovery, Kind regards, Yours sincerely, Gordon W Todce | ||
