File Thorndike 1328. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Ed.{J. L. Edwards}4/CH.12.3.40. 12th March 1940. The British Thermostat Co. Ltd., Teddington Works, Windmill Road, Sunbury on Thames, Middlesex. Dear Mr. Martin Hurst, Further to your recent 'phone call, I have looked into the job in question and we are sending the necessary parts to Mr. Bellringer in London. I have requested also, him to let you know if the charge is likely to be more than £5. 0. 0d. I am very much afraid that it will be necessary to fit yet another water pump cover, as the modifications which enable a heater to be fitted do not also allow fitting a thermostat by-pass pipe. The only other possible snag is the fitting of the top water pipe, which as I said before may require a special moulded hose. I have been in touch with our Repair Department, but unfortunately there are no cars in a condition, and no "M" series cars - the first to be fitted with a thermostat - have yet come in. You will appreciate my point, therefore, that it is extremely difficult to obtain accurate information regarding the interchangeability of parts. - continued - | ||
