Dear Sirs,

RE INSTRUMENTS FOR BENTLEY.

This is to confirm our conversations on the subject of your supplying a set of instruments for the first experimental chassis Bentley.
We have tried our the combined speedometer and tachometer patch as set out in you blue print on the instrument board of the body for this car and we have been forced to the conclusion that its size is the absolute maximum. If you can in any way see your way clear to reduce the size of the aluminium casting we think it should be done.
We have asked Derby to send to you another of our standard 25HP. instrument board lamp holders.
After further consideration we are forced to conclude that the bezels of the instruments must be black and not chromium as suggested during the writer's visit.
The dials of all the instruments are to be black with white lettering after the sample which you shewed the writer.
The speedometer should shew readings up to 110.M.P.H. and the Tachometer up to 5000.R.P.M. The latter should have a clock incorporated in it.
We understand that you now find that you are able to supply A.T. Instruments, but we will accept Jaeger on this first car if it is any help to you.
The drive ends of both the speedometer and tachometer should have the standard A.T. square drive end.
The tachometer will run at one quarter engine speed.
The tachometer should be the enter member of the patch, i.e. on the right hand side.
The speedometer will run at 790.revs per mile. The axle ratio is 10 x 41. and the rolling radius of the wheel 14.000 ins.
We also wish you to supply the following instruments with similar dials and bezels but for mounting direct into a wooden instrument board.
Oil Gauge. Water Temp. Gauge. Ammeter.
There three should be the same instruments as now supplied by Messrs Smith and Sons for the framed patch of instruments on the 25.HP. Rolls-Royce.
To match these we also wish you to supply a combined oil
