W/S - C. c. Hr. c. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} C4565 Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/NRC{N. R. Chandler}5/EW29.11.24. Re Balloon Tyres. With further reference to your C16/C19.9.24. enclosing draft of standard letter (approved by CJ.) to customers who enquire whether or not we recommend Balloon tyres. Since this letter was written it has been found that very large tyres on the front wheels may be contributory to the combination of conditions which render a car liable to high speed steering wobble, i.e. about 50 M.P.H. This high speed wobble is by no means common, but the risk of its occurrence is slightly increased by the use of Balloon tyres on the front wheels. We therefore think that some indication of the possible risk incurred should be incorporated in the standard letter, and we would be glad to have your views on this matter. [Signature] Hm{Capt. W.
