Messrs.Rolls-Royce Ltd.,
D E R B Y.

For the attention of H.W.Harvey Bailey, Esq.

Dear Sirs,

This is to confirm the writer's visit to your works on Thursday last when we, together with Mr.Grylls and Mr.Hardy, discussed the position as it affects the future supply of D.W.S. Permanent Hydraulic Jacks for your 20/25 h.p. and Phantom III chassis.

Messrs.R.T.Shelley Ltd. who have been supplying the equipment to us in the past have informed us that they cannot continue to supply the jacking systems at the original figure, and insist upon an increase of 29/8d on the 20/25 h.p. sets and 29/- on the Phantom III chassis. They further add that they will not take any responsibility for faulty material or bad workmanship after the cars have been delivered to their owners.

Messrs.Shelleys also state that deliveries cannot be made in accordance with your schedule contained in your enquiry of the 17th January, as they will require four to five weeks to deliver, after the order has been received.

The attitude displayed by Shelleys, coupled with the bad workmanship they have allowed to creep into the manufacture of the system recently, led the writer to put the whole question of future supplies before you - with some alternative suggestions.

There would appear to be three alternative schemes which we should like to put before you for consideration:-

(1) To continue with the Shelley-made product for the next 350 cars, provided their delivery dates and conditions are acceptable.

-contd-
