1175. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC{N. R. Chandler}6/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 7th October, 1937. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Spurrier Esq., Jnr.{Charles L. Jenner}, Leyland Motors Ltd., Leyland, Lancs. Dear Sir, re: Clutch Pedal Servo Spring. As promised by Mr. Robotham when he was recently at your Works, we have much pleasure in enclosing some drawings showing the general outline of the arrangements with which we have been experimenting. N. Sch.5195 shows this device as applied experimentally to a Phantom III car having a long pedal travel, i.e., 7", although the spring actually used is shown on the separate drawing F.89637, which it will be noted is of a much simpler and cheaper design than that shown on the Arrgt. drawing. We also enclose a graph, Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}461, showing approximate pedal pressures obtained, although it will be appreciated that by modifying the length and angle of the levers carrying the spring, also by modifying the poundage and the rate of spring itself, almost any desired result can be obtained. Yours faithfully, For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
