NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I CHASSIS MAGNETOS.

Referring to EY15/H.31.8.25, we are now in receipt of a letter from Messrs.North & Sons Ltd., as follows:-

"We beg to say that we are making up a sample magneto with
"bronze end plate having considerably increased length of bearing
"for the sleeve and are also modifying the end of the sleeve both
"to stiffen it and to give the increased length of bearing.

"We hope to have this machine on test within a day or two and
"will report on the results of our tests at the earliest possible
"moment.

"We trust that this modification will permanently overcome the
"difficulty of the noise caused by the movement of the sleeve, but
"will go further into the matter when we have seen the effect of
"this modification, and if any further stiffening of the parts is
"necessary will make up a further sample machine."

This matter will receive my personal attention and if the promised report does not reach us this week, I shall visit North's as early as possible next week to personally ascertain what progress is being made.
