S/W. To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} X1263 Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}16/D1.8.35. Re: Chassis B-160-BG. - Mr. H.C. Martineau. Referring to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}9/E19.7.35 and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}4/MJ.29.7.35, I had an interview with Mr. Martineau to-day, and generally speaking, he is delighted with his car. As a result of his experience and in the light of what was told him by chauffeurs of other cars etc., he has formed the opinion that the trouble is due to the pumps. He says that the movement or palpitations of our electric pumps are very small and that the Italians and French use more efficient pumps. I would like Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} to find out, through Sr. if necessary, what electric pumps people like Fiats, Alpha's, Citroen's etc. use, and it might be as well to try one or two, as,if his theory is correct, then surely we can bring pressure to bear on the people who manufacture ours to make them equally efficient. As Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} is going to Budapest, I suggest it would be a good thing if he went up a mountain pass so as to get the same difficulty, taking with him the Continental make of pump to see if it overcomes the trouble.
