We had this Car out to-day for test for London conditions in connection with the resonance silencer. PN.{Mr Northey} and I who took the Car out are quite satisfied with this scheme as represented by this Car. Do you require the Car back to take off this resonance silencer, or would it be agreeable to you, provided it is possible which presumably it is, if we removed it from GBT-24, as this Car is being sold, and put it on GBT-9 the Car which I use continually for private and propaganda purposes. If you agree to this as being the best means of retaining it, provided you don't want it back, could N. do the changeover quite easily? In view of this decision, no doubt you will be able to let us know when you expect to introduce this exhaust system on the standard chassis. Could you also say what the effect is in the performance on GBT-24? Does it make the Car more lively in acceleration and in maximum speed? It seemed to the writer that this engine was very powerful, very good in acceleration, and comparatively easily attained 50 miles an hour in third gear, whereas GBT-9 which I use, although it has a lighter body, seems to be inferior in performance. If, therefore, by having this resonance silencer on GBT-9 it would have a similar performance to GBT-24, then apparently its effect on performance is very marked. Cx.{Major Len W.
