Typed Text: To CJ. from BJ. BJ1/H3.10.24. SECRET. TESTING SPRINGS IN FRANCE. Hsl/LG2.10.24. With reference to 'A', this car was tested here, I believe, only for brakes, and no mention was made of altered springs when we were asked to approve the brakes. With reference to 'B', why not try also 12½% as if they stand up, so much the better. 7½% stronger than what we thought the limit (viz. 7½ + 12½ = 20%) is very heavy, and probably very uncomfortable, and possibly unnecessary. If 20% is O.K., we still shall not know if 12½% is O.K, so all cars will have to have 20%. We never know which cars will go to France on tour, and all must be safe. B.J.
