R.R. 235a (500 T) (S.D. 408. 26-4-17.) Bm. 2/156/13. November 29th 1918. X.3457. X.1407. Extract from BY6/P291118. RE 1000 45/50 H.P. CHASSIS. Referring to your memo R4/G261118, the position in regard to the various items which you have discussed in same is as follows:- (1) I am afraid my memo BY6/P221118 gave you a wrong impression. The tubes referred to were in stock at the outbreak of war when the design was modified, and the modified tube, which did not have a raised collar and the continuous line of metal, was arranged for to deal with these pre-war tubes. The point I wish to correct is, that for the whole of the post-war chassis the new design of tube will be used, and in addition the tube itself will be made in nickel steel. The design of the new tube has been detailed from LeC.566 and I will forward you a blueprint of the tube in question . The advantages of the new design are unquestionable. | ||
