Re:Present Standard 6 BXE5 Batteries.

On the 6BXE5 batteries of the type now being delivered to us, which we found it necessary to standardise before the completion of our experimental tests, owing, as explained to us by your representative, to an error on your part of producing batteries of this type for us in place of our previous standard, we have found upon examination that a number of batteries in use on cars corrosion is taking place on the washers under the nuts, within a short time of the placing of these batteries on cars.

This we find to be due to your having reverted to the use of brass washers under the terminal nuts. You may remember that we previously had trouble with earlier batteries on this account, which when pointed out to you caused you to replace these brass washers with hard leaden washers, and on batteries so arranged (which include our previous standard) we have not had this trouble.

It would seem, therefore, to both your and our advantage if you could arrange to change these washers as soon as possible on all the batteries of this type which you have delivered to us which are available at our Works, and with this end in view we are now suggesting that you make arrangements accordingly.
