Coverley - Production Engineer}/HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}1/MS18.1.35. ACCESSIBILITY OF SPECTRECodename for Phantom III UNITS. With reference to E.6/HP.1.1.35. The accessibility of the various items outlined has been investigated as follows:- (1) DYNAMO In order to remove Dynamo it is necessary to remove Exhaust Front Downtake Pipe. (2) OIL FILTER No difficulty is experienced in removing the felt filtering element. (3) OIL RELIEF VALVES The Low Pressure Valve Cover cannot be removed with a standard spanner due to lack of space, but the other two covers are accessible. The valve seats cannot be examined without removing Relief Valve Body from Crankcase due to overhang of Cylinders and Exhaust Manifold. (4) OIL LEVEL INDICATOR Can be removed without difficulty. (5) WATER DRAIN COCK This is inaccessible from above and can only be reached from below with difficulty. (6) ENGINE SUSPENSION RUBBERS To change Front Engine Rubbers on SpectreCodename for Phantom III No.1. involves removal of Wings, Side Strips, and Exhaust System. An improved scheme has been issued, the accessibility of which can be checked after fitting to SpectreCodename for Phantom III No. 2. Rear Rubbers are difficult to remove, particularly if rubbers are partially vulcanised to their brackets due to long service. continued, | ||
