OY. From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL. c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} 8 77 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL.1/MJ.3.7.30. x777 x7580 AMERICAN TOOL FOR DETACHING TOP WASHERS. We have examined and tried the American tool for detaching top valve spring washers as requested by OY. This valve, whilst being suitable for use on P.l cars cannot be used on P.ll. cars on several valves without first dismantling the induction pipe, this is due to the 'Weir' type of induction pipe. It is also necessary to take off the H.T. wiring tube before it can be used on any valve at all. When all these portions are removed, the tool is fairly easy to use. The dimension 'A' could with advantage be .250" longer, and the sharp corners on the end of the tool at 'B' hurt the palm of the hand. To use the tool would take considerably longer than our own in view of having to remove the induction pipe etc. There is no tool supplied for holding the valve in the closed position, which is necessary in conjunction with this. We made a similar tool to this sometime ago (in the Expl. Dept.) but dropped it as being unsatisfactory, our present tool being afterwards evolved. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL. | ||
