re L.H.P.II Chassis.

Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}14/B1.7.30

Thanks for Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}2/H2.7.30 enclosing Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/AD2.7.30.

In regard to bumpers, I am sorry to note that the necessary collision tests have been delayed for the reasons given by Rs.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}

R's criticism to me of the American bumper was never of a very serious nature but was chiefly confined to the fact that the bumper would look much better if it had a small convex contour to its face instead of being flat.

This is a matter which I spoke to them about in America. They/quite agreed and I think will adopt it.

There can, I think, be no question of our manu-facturing bumpers for America. These bumpers are more or less mass production articles and I do not think for a moment that we could hope to touch it from the point of view of price.

The contract is quite clear on the subject, i.e. that our frame must be suitable to carry their bumpers, and, therefore, the necessary collision tests should be made with our frame and their proposed bumpers.

With regard to the other 6 items I should be glad if you would see that a note on this subject is given to Oy. so that he may be clear. Possibly this has already been done as the carbon copy of his note I see is dated 12th June.
