A.T. SPEEDOMETERS.

I duly received your PN{Mr Northey}4/WT10.3.31 enquiring from me as to the position in respect of speedometers. You will remember that, the matter having had my attention, I was anxious to obtain the information specified in a sheet of mine dated 12.9.30 copy of which I sent to you under cover of our EFC1/AD2.9.30. In endeavouring to obtain this information, which necessitated certain road tests, I was met with the answer that work of this nature was considered of insufficient relative importance to be carried out at the time. I have now, however, again raised the matter and have received a promise that certain of the data asked for would be obtained. In the meanwhile I will see if it is possible to do anything worth while in this direction in the absence of the required information.

In spite of the fact that in our EFC2/AD4.9.30 we recommended the figure 794 or nearest as the instrument revolutions per counter mile for the Phantom, no notice appears to have been taken of our report except by yourself and instruments are still being ordered for the figure of 785 revolutions per mile which is contrary to what our recommendations have been for a considerable time.

EFC.
