COPY. 42, Warwick Avenue, Earlsdon, COVENTRY. 12th. November, 1937. Dear Sir, I enclose herewith estimate of floor space and cost of equipment required for producing 50 bodies weekly as shown under headings "A", "B", "C", "D" with my letter dated 1st. November. No allowance has been made for offices, sanitary accommodation or lighting. The experimental department and cost of equipment for same are shown separately. No allowance has been made for compressed air in this shop as I have assumed that this would be available. Regarding the paint shop, all equipment has been allowed for, including air compressor. The amount under "Heating" is for the whole works. Since sending you the estimated cost of bodies I have visited Messrs. Park Ward's in company with Messrs. Bailey and Robotham, and have seen the construction of their all steel body, which I think is a very good job, and should compare very favourably with one that is die pressed, with the exception of the front, which I consider could, with advantage, be stiffened, although I was assured by Mr. Ward that no trouble has been experienced through weakness at this point, and I understand the same applies to one which you have at your works. Should you wish to avoid a heavy die cost for the time being, I am of opinion that the Park Ward construction would be satisfactory for the bodies which you are going to produce, and if by giving them a reasonable quantity to build they will reduce their price considerably, which I think they | ||
