NITROGENISED STEEL.

Referring to ROY {Sir Henry Royce} 2/MG.23.7.28. there are no further particulars that we would care to have from Mr. Mannock of Bolton, as we are already making tests to satisfy ourselves as to which purpose, if any, this steel can be safely used.

We are well acquainted with the characteristics of the steel, and also certain defects to which it is subject. It has advantages in certain directions, but its possible interest to this Company appears to me at the moment to be only on a limited scale. For use under a pump gland it would be good, but constructional difficulties may arise even in this connection.

We have written Mr. Royce fully on this subject some months or so ago.
