-3- We had some discussion with Mr. W.Kasten who is the Skinner representative in this country, and were also shown some parts of the 12 H.P. Skinner engine which Coventry Climax are building. They have run a Skinner engine on their test beds and the figures which they gave us seem very good. It was a four-cylinder engine of 3.06" bore x 3.94" stroke and gave a maximum b.m.e.p. of 136 and a maximum H.P. of 65 at 4500 R.P.M. The C.R. was 6.5 : 1 and the consumption .47 pts/BHP/Hr at 2200 R.P.M. Both the maximum B.M.E.P. and consumption figures are particularly good. They now have both inlet and exhaust ports on the same side of the cylinder and claim that this arrangement has resulted in improved volumetric efficiency from the same sized ports. E/PSN. | ||
