Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. 4th, November 1936. Dear Sirs, 25/30 HP. CHASSIS. STEERING ROLLERS. With reference to your valued communication of the 27th ultimo, regarding the above, we regret that our reply has been unavoidably delayed, and trust this has caused you no inconvenience, and we have pleasure in enclosing our quotation for making throughout 100 rollers to your drawing F.61281 from material supplied by you through the Adamant Engineering Co., lapping faces and grinding tracks of 200 inners your drawings F.61283 and F.61284, these inners being supplied in a semi-finished state by yourselves, while in addition, we are enclosing our quotation for the additional work on these inners in the case of the first 67 received, on which an additional facing operation is required on both sides in order to true this up with the bore. We are also quoting for facing 100 distance pieces to the necessary figure, as required to give the adjustment of the bearings when assembled, and for the supply of 2,400 balls 1/4" diameter. With regard to the question of material from the Adamant Engineering Co., the quantity already received will only make up 102; therefore leaving only a balance of 2 against the quantity required, and on a job of this description we always allow 10% on the material for scrap, so that it may be necessary for us to call for some more material to enable us to do the 100 required. From the second paragraph in your letter it would appear that it is your intention that we should proceed further than the original 100 sets, and if this is the case we presume that you yourselves will make the necessary arrangements with the Adamant Engineering Co.
