The pinion of starting motor is moved into engagement with the fly wheel by means unconnected with the electric motor (e.g. by compressed air). The motor only has to take care of the turning movement. A heavy solenoid is thus dispensed with. .526,080 Andre (Components) Ltd. Friction elements for vibration and V.A. The friction discs employed in a frictional shock damper are duplicated and a floating ring of metal sandwiched between them, thus forming four surfaces between which movement may take place.
