Cricklewood,

Phantom III
Complaints - Hand Brake.

We have two complaints of the Hand Brake lever not being sufficiently positive on the ratchet.

The one at Cricklewood was due to the small bell crank lever not having sufficient end clearance on the anchorage bush and the weakness of the pull-off spring amplified the trouble.

The one in Paris, the ratchet was not positive, due to the weakness of the pull-off spring.

This spring tension, has I know, been cut down to overcome the necessary weight in depressing the release knob, but it is a little bit too light.

It is held in position by two links one top one bottom. If you will take off one link it makes the ratchet more positive without unduly loading up the plunger. I did this in Paris and the Owner was perfectly satisfied.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} W. Hancock.
