(5) The heel on the flanges of the axle tubes should be still further extended by about .100" on the radius, gashes being arranged as on N. scheme 503, to accommodate the bevel pinion bearing cap bolts. Referring to the axle ratio, it is not likely now that a larger ratio than 4 to 1 will be required, since the capacity of the "Vulture" engine will be approximately equal to that of the "Buzzard" instead of being smaller as formerly. Referring to the bell-mouth axle tube shewn on N. scheme 503, kindly note that Mr. Royce proposes to abandon this.
