It was agreed that Works should go ahead with machining the necessary parts for 50 new chassis. (b) Production of Goshawk. Works stated that they thought we should be two or three months later than 1st June before we were in a position to produce the first production chassis. It was also stated that the electrical equipment was the most behindhand and also the biggest unknown factor, as far as W. are concerned. Also that it would be the 15th March before we should be in a position to start a car on the 10,000 miles trial, and that it would be six weeks before this car could be got ready, whatever electrical equipment was used. With regard to the 10,000 miles trial CJ. thought that one of the cars ought to do an intensive test, running about 350 miles during every 24 hours. This should be done on some selected bad pieceof road, and a driver kept at either end of the stretch. This would mean that the test could be completed in one month. It was agreed that W. should take certain risks on parts such as Pendulum Lever, etc. and that production and tests should go on at the same time. It was also agreed that the date we must have in mind for production should be the 1st June, and that there is nothing except the following:- | ||
