Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd.,
DERBY.

Dear Sirs,

With further reference to your letter of the 2nd inst. the four Tyres were fitted to the Bentley Demonstration Car at Glasgow under the following circumstances.

When your Demonstrator arrived at Glasgow he reported that on the way from Liverpool he had one or two slight skids and some repetition had occured during demonstration runs on the first day of the Show.

The conditions were very bad - wet greasy roads and fog, and after consultation with your Mr. Robotham, the Tyre equipment of this Demonstration Car was examined.

It was found that the rear Tyres were somewhat worn though the wear was perfectly even and quite normal for the mileage achieved. The front Tyres, however, were worn in a very perculiar way.

The Tyre equipment was really not suitable for a Demonstration Car under the conditions prevalent during the Glasgow Show, and though we had no direct instructions from you to change them, we thought in our mutual interests that this should be done, particularly as the Tyre equipment had run over 7,000 miles.

Two of the Tyres were returned to you for examination and the other two are held here at your disposal. They are all perfectly capable of putting up several thousands of miles on a Works run-about Chassis though not good enough for Demonstration purposes.

If you think it is not encumbent on you to accept the charge for these four Tyres we should be prepared to consider any equitable suggestion that you may like to put forward, but in view of Mr. Royce's remarks to the undersigned that he did not wish us to supply for experimental or test purposes any Tyres without them being charged, we though it advisable to invoice these tyres to you although we had no official order for them.

Yours faithfully,
INDIA TYRE & RUBBER CO. LTD.,

General Sales Manager.
