To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re American Chassis - Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}16/E15.2.29
Left-handed.

Referring to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}5/E24.1.29 and R1/M26.1.29, I wrote to Mr.Fuller on this subject and have to-day received a cable saying that theybprefer that chassis of this type which they have should be 150" wheel base, i.e. the same as the English.

I understand that you were originally in favour of this. It was we who raised the query on this side as we were anxious to settle the matter before the experimental chassis was made because we knew that America were very keen on shorter wheel bases and that their Phantoms were shorter than ours.

It very much looks from their cable as if they were going definitely to buy "Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}" chassis from us and, if so they do so, the fact that the wheel bases of both models are the same will be a great benefit all round.

I am, therefore, advising Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} that the experimental chassis should be 150" wheel base as I am quite sure that this would meet with your approval.
