(To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}) c. to Ve. c. to OTS. c. to FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer} 3 Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}S/Jh. 14th. August, 1940. The British Power Boat Co.Ltd., Hythe, Southampton. For the attention G.S.Selman. Dear Sirs, re Gun Mounting 40 m.m. type BL Gun. Many thanks for your letter of the 15th.inst. reference GSS/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} We shall make the flange of the pedestal mounting 2 1/4" wide as you request. There does not appear to be any need to stagger the bolts as you suggest since the flange is welded to the base of the cone which is circular. The flange therefore is prevented from twisting or heeling. The Mounting referred to in our letter of the 10th. inst. as the immediate successor to the Oerlikon, is the pedestal mounting in question. Yours faithfully, H.I.F.Evernden, Chief of Design, Gun Installation Section. [Handwritten initials 'Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}'] | ||
