X4586 To HHy. from BJ. BJ2/H22.6.23. Copies to: C. S. Opper. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} WGF. Dunlop Steel Artillery Wheels. I am sending copies of this to the officials concerned, asking them to make the following information known:- At the Derby Conference on the 20th we were informed that the tests they had made of the Dunlop steel artillery wheels had proved sufficiently satisfactory to enable us to supply them when they are specially required by customers who do not like wire wheels. This will prevent our having to supply discs, which we know add to the noise of our cars, as there should be no difficulty in inducing customers to use the artillery steel wheels instead of discs, especially as the steel wheels will be considerably cheaper than discs. C. will please consider how many of these steel wheels it will be safe for us now to order. It is of course understood that they will not be standard, but an extra when required, just the same as in the past. We were informed that R.{Sir Henry Royce} would interest himself in re-designing certain points in the Dunlop steel wheel, but we need not wait for this, as it may take some very considerable time before they have been re-designed and tested.
