Second Speed Synchromesh Gearbox.
---------------------------------

Discussion ensued as to the methods to be adopted to overcome the failings which had occurred on the second speed synchro mesh gearbox on 28-EX during its French test. Various modifications are available to overcome the heaviness of operation etc. complained of by GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}
The modifications are as follows:-

(1) It was agreed that 50º cams should be instructed instead of 45º on the second speed only.

(2) Ball Bearings to N. Sch.4140 it was agreed should be instructed in place of bronze bushes on the second speed sliders.

(3) In order to decrease any tendency towards binding in the change gear lever shaft bearing, it was agreed to instruct the spherical bearing to N. Sch.4173.

(4) Air Vents - It was agreed to instruct the air vent to N. Sch.4170.
