- 3 - Exhaust cut-out. New exhaust cut-out operation to N.S. 2012/13. We have not experienced any trouble with operation of cut-out. Condition of cut-out spindle, rods & levers is good. Exhaust snout & swan neck. The exhaust snout aperture has opened still more in the centre. This is due to the bridge pieces having failed at welded joints. The swan neck connecting snout/silencer is in good condition. Mag. & dynamo drive, to L.O.P. S.73297. Control spring fitted to mag. to L.E.C. 1927. We have had no trouble with the mag. The contact points are in good condition, & it has not been found necessary to adjust these. The drive is still O.K. Control spring is operating satisfactorily. Suspensions of engine. The suspensions of engine are in good condition, & all bolts have remained secure. Autovac. This has continued to function O.K. The filter has not been examined at this mileage. Fan bracket, fan & fan belt. These have given no trouble. Fan belt has been adjusted up three complete turns of nut. Slipper wheel & spring drive. Dowelled slipper flywheel to L.E.C. 2131, etherwise to L.O.P. S. 71202. This appears to be working quite satisfactorily. We have had no indication otherwise. Dynamo. Dynamo is still functioning O.K., & output is satisfactory. Inspection of brushes & gear shews them to be in good condition. It has not been necessary to clean these. Oil pump. This is still working satisfactorily, & no mechanical faults have arisen. Oil release valve unit. It has been necessary on two occasions during continuation of test to dismantle this owing to foreign matter getting under the seat of the main oil release valve, & so causing the oil pressure to vary. We suggest that a finer gauze be fitted to filter, to prevent this trouble as far as possible. | ||
