This has continued to work satisfactorily. Examination of contact points shews them to have pitted in the centre, but not sufficient to be detrimental to the working of same. These have been trimmed up. Oil relay for ignition system. This is till working satisfactorily. Condition of piston leather is good. Filter taken out & found to be quite clean. Connecting rods, to E.73762/3 with W/S bushes E.73767 in big end to L.E.C. 2081 (Sch.2.A.) We have no indication that these are not in a satisfactory condition. Bonnet & fittings. Bonnet handles & catches to H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Sch. 2037. It has been necessary during the continuation of the test to tie the N.S. of the bonnet down, as the fasteners on this side are useless, & one catch of lock has broken off. The rear N.S. fastener has through jolting about become unscrewed & top portion lost. The O.S. bonnet fasteners are worn, but continue to hold securely. Bolts holding bonnet strips N.S. & O.S. have worked loose. Engine guards. These are in good condition, & engine has kept clean during the runs in sludgy weather. Several bolts holding N.S. guard became loose. Radiator. This is still in good condition. Radiator suspension, shutter & controls. The suspension of radiator is still good. No appreciable wear has taken place. Shutters have continued to operate satisfactorily, & controls are in good condition. Dashboard brackets. These are O.K., & bolts have remained secure. Steering column & box. Steering "B" type, 0.720" lead steering worm & nut F.73465/6 with steel core for white metal threads. The steering column & box supports appear to be in good condition. Bolts holding same have remained secure. No wear can be detected in rocker shaft bearings. The pendulum lever has remained secure on shaft. The steering during continuation of test has been free, except at extreme locks when binding is apparent. There has been no sign of wobbles either at low or high speeds. The steering box is free from oil leaks. | ||
