TYRE PUMPS.

We have received a sample hand operated tyre pump made by Messr. Kinsman Ltd. We have not been very partial to a hand pump as compared with a foot pump, but in view of several advantages which this particular make possesses coupled with the fact that in these days most public garages are equipped with compressed air plant we think it worth while obtaining Sales opinion on the subject.

The following is a comparison of the hand pump with the standard Nesthill Foot pump.

Kinsman Hand Pump. Nesthill Foot Pump.

Weight. 2 1/2 lbs. 7 lbs. 2 ozs.
Max: Length. 21 1/2" 14 1/2"
.. Height. 2 1/2" 2 1/2"
Width. Max: 3 1/2" 4"
Increase in tyre pressure
per 100 strokes of pump. 10 lbs/sq.in. 7 lbs/sq.in.
Price. 7/6d. 14/3d.

Thus the hand pump has the advantage in the matters of price, efficiency, weight and also it is not necessary owing, to a special feature supplied on the pump, to remove the pump connection in order to check the tyre pressure. Against this is its length which makes the storage on the car more difficult, and the questionable belief that an efficient hand pump is more tiring to use than a foot pump. Our present standard foot pump is the most efficient we can obtain.

We should welcome Sales views, and if desired we will send the pump for inspection.
