made to the defective cylinder, which suggests removal of the head for regrinding. This valve like many others might have been damaged through the tappet clearance being insufficient. After increasing tappet clearance engine was thought to be getting better, and more power, but in this I might have been mistaken.

(9) Several exhaust valves had scales (causing sticking) on stem at head end, possibly due to head not seating, but may be burnt oil, but this should have shewn on other engines.

(10) Ignition plugs [strikethrough]WERE[/strikethrough] changed and shewed engine runs equally well [underline]even very hot[/underline] (hard pulling against brakes) with Lodge plug as with K.L.G.. The former should be much the cheaper i.e. almost 2/- against K.L.G. about 5/-. All plugs worked very cleanly.

(11) Water temperature on journey did not exceed 75°, though 3" of the radiator was blanked off. Sun and weather very warm, [underline]but very cool wind in exposed places[/underline].

(12) Mr. Elliott [underline]removed the cylinder head[/underline] and we were very pleased with the convenience and appearance of this, and all parts affected. It is apparently about a day's work to [underline]remove and replace after cleaning[/underline].
