1021 Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/MH.{M. Huckerby} 4th. November, 1939. C.W.Ward, Esq., Messrs. Park Ward & Co. Ltd., 473, High Road, Willesden, LONDON, N.W.10. Dear Ward, I have had a note from Green in which he says you are proposing to come to Derby on Tuesday. I do suggest that before we discuss the body project at Derby you and Mr. Green should go into the matter in considerable detail, i.e. not only the prospect of getting the body at the price suggested, but the way in which this can be done. Mr. Green has already covered a lot of the ground as he submitted a report on the subject when the question of producing the Park Ward all-steel body in quantity was first brought out. We are really hoping that as a result of your joint recommendations we may induce the Board to put something in hand right away so that they are ready to start producing bodies as soon as we can get chassis ready for them at this end, after the War. Incidentally, I was very distressed on taking Mr. Hives' new car out for the first time last week-end to find that water poured in through the bottom of the windscreen. My wife's remark as soon as water started to come in was "This must be a Park Ward body". Some day we hope to reach the position where we can test a body for this feature before it leaves the place where it is made. Yours sincerely, | ||
