c. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 1158 FJH{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer} DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}18/G.17.2.39. D.CD.1204 CAR HEATER AND DEFROSTER. This scheme is similar in external dimensions to the previous Heater to D.CD.221 (Sh.3) except that the defroster outlet has been moved to a vertical position 1.250 from centre. Other features include :- (1). Fan Spindle running in plain Tufnol bushes, in place of ball bearings, to reduce noise. (2). Metalastik flexible coupling to simplify the original scheme using speedometer type flexible drive with sweated end pieces. (3). Rear Cover for additional stiffness. (4). Larger diameter Defroster Fan as shown on S.CD.508. (5). Four heater outlets with increased area, in place of the five smaller ones on D.CD.221. Outlet at top of casing has been deleted, as being unnecessary. All Fan and coupling hubs have been increased to .625 o/dia. to provide more tapping for grub screw. The plate and distance pieces for mounting the motor will be used for the first six heaters, and may subsequently be replaced by a one piece pressing. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
